DAYDREAM, PERCEPTION AND THE MARKMAKING BODY: A ONE DAY SOMATIC DRAWING INTENSIVE WITH ANYA SMOLNIKOVA at the Field Center

This class is intended for all levels and beginners are encouraged!

 

Who is this for?:

Those interested in drawing, movement and experimentation
Humans
Those new to it all and looking to start a new or refresh an existing drawing practice 
Those interested in the body and the interrelational field

 

What will we do:

we will draw
we will experiment
we will dream
we will practice skills
we will ask questions 
we will do group and solo work
we will integrate elements of movement into markmaking
we will be with the creative process
we will look with the body
we will practice visualization and observation
we will eat, play and learn together

 

We will work in various positions: sitting at a table, on the floor, standing with paper on the wall, and working in sketchbooks, working indoors and outdoors (weather permitting). We will be exploring elements of Anya’s research and practice that come from academic training, adaptations of nomadic artmaking - drawing and painting while on the move/traveling; and integrating movement and embodiment practices to help connect the body and the imagination.

ABOUT THE TEACHER

ANYA SMOLNIKOVA BFA Boston University | MFA Northwestern University is an artist and facilitator with practices that span the fields of painting, installation and performance.
Her practices explore belonging,

presence and perception through focused skill building, ritual and daydreaming.
