Fundação: Capoeira Basics for All Levels

This workshop focuses on building a strong foundation in Capoeira music and movement. We’ll explore key concepts, including Capoeira theory, history, and the many customs and forms of the roda. Designed for beginners (0–3 years of experience), the workshop is open to all levels. Join us for an immersive space of play, learning, and exploration.

ABOUT THE FACILITATOR
Nuria Latifa Bowart (Mestra Marreta)
Mestra Marreta has taught Capoeira since 2000 and was awarded the title of Mestre in 2023. She is a member of the Berkeley Capoeira Collective, active in Berkeley, California, for the past five years. Nuria also has a background in contemporary and percussive dance, body music, and Rolfing. She is a certified teacher of the Axis Syllabus© and co-founded the Field Center in 2021, where she now lives and teaches internationally.
