Join us for a full day of exploration and CI practice facilitated by Alessandro Rivellino. Home cooked Lunch will be provided.
Deep Inside Nothing is Linear:
At this one day workshop we will open the field of research, as the roots of this practice always informed us.
It is said that Contact Improvisation is actually not possible to teach, but it is possible to learn. Well, I am interested in this crack.
I wish to hold space for an experience, getting along with the maturity towards the experimental part of Contact Improvisation (experimental does not mean leaving the roots behind!).
We aim to keep the questions open for the body:
The points of contact, what are their own agencies?
The cells, how do they develop their communal trust?
Is this all related to falling? Up, down, or into the space?
The brain, can it be understandable by itself?
Floating in a liquid, with our attention spreading as a whole, instead of a thought factory?
If I would frame the requirements to participate, it would be related to the study of oneself, connected to awareness towards the otherhood and to the capacity to feel with the body, or even, as a body; it would finally be about commitment.
I wish for some slippery paths for the patterns and the nourishing ground for discovery.
I am not sure how it is gonna work exactly, and I consider that a good thing. For sure this `not knowing` holds in itself a certain quality, which is extremely different from `whatever`.
We will dance, that is certain, we will think, go beyond thinking, with the mind of the body and with the antennas of the senses.
Let's figure it out together, imagination will play a considerable role, and the threads with the physicality of it will be our main trail.

It is already 21 years that I have worked with this thing of writing a Bio...
I think the most significant ones were those who made clear that it is not about myself, exactly.
I keep asking and forgetting.
What should I say there?
That I wish to be human enough to be able to listen to others?
That I am interested in the lifts of the corners of the mouth?
That I dance and teach, and I am danced and I serve as a vessel, that I trust in something that could be called the Big Mystery?
Or...
That I have experienced enough to start with not knowing with certain quality?
That I had wonderful teachers and colleagues with whom I learnt?
And that I devote my life for teaching and dancing?
That I have awards and nominations, a master's degree, that I have thought in more than 36 countries for hundreds of people?
That I have studied and practiced a little bit of: BMC, Feldenkrais, Alexander Technique, Antigimnastics, Craneosacral Osteopathy, modern dance, contemporary dance, choreography, performance studies, sitespecific, Authentic Movement, zen buddhism, ancient technologies of the sacred; but a lot of Contact Improvisation?
That the most significant experiences in life I just cannot write over here?
That the alive silence is my best friend?
Or...
That I believe in something called friendship?
That I don't have kids, so I know nothing about life yet?
That I am passionate now as I was when I first got in touch with dance in this life?
That I still write but I listen to what is beyond, before, and behind words?
Or even...
That I really hope that through this illusion of you and I being separated, we can drop it, and go beyond our hanging names to explore the in-between field of existence to dance and be danced with and through the visible and invisible forces entangled at each single moment and find the way to be at the arch of beauty?
Or instead, maybe I could simplify everything and repeat:
"The dance is the teacher, the teacher points to that"
