Solo and Partnered Studies of Spirals and Pathways through Flying Low and the Feldenkrais Method

Drawing from the Feldenkrais Method, we foster the potency of touch as a vehicle for self-knowledge, community building and technique refinement. Using partnered touch, as well as an invisible, imagined one, we practice specifying pathways and heightening awareness with one another. We propose, at varying speeds of dancing, how “becoming a spiral” is a vital detail of the Flying Low technique. By orienting towards ease and a nuanced listening to our whole selves, we will investigate how to harness and integrate the forces coming from the ground through our individual and collective structures for spontaneously generative dancing, fast, slow, high, low, and everywhere in between, in our shared and solo dances.

Belinda and Momo share a particular relationship to dance and time that they can’t quite yet articulate. They believe that in teaching and creating together, they will come into a shared eloquence that will become communicable and potent. In the meantime, they continue to ask questions together.
